The Agencia Andaluza de Instituciones Culturales in collaboration with Patronato de la Alhambra y Generalife founded a programme called Lorca y Granada en los Jardines del Generalife in 2002. The leading figure of Federico García Lorca and the knowledge of his work all over the world are joined with the evocative power of flamenco to make the perfect formula for this artistic proposal.
Teatro del Generalife serves as an extraordinary space for a great technical and artistic performance that inspires, every summer, the expectations that society has about the world of culture: artistic, touristic, cultural industry and the connection with the audience.
From July 19th to September 1, 2018, we will enjoy “Flamencolorquiano”, a show by the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía with the artistic direction by Rafael Estévez. Likewise, the original idea of the show and the choreography is by Rafael Estévez and Valeriano Paño.
With original music by Jesús Guerrero and choreographic and musical collaboration by Juan Kruz Díaz de Garaio and Esnaola, it will have the special collaboration of Arcángel and María Terremoto as a guest cantaora.
A fantasy of avant-garde, surreal, flamenco and popular passages that finds that “imbalance from which the contrast emerges as a beautiful theatrical effect” and subject to the anachronism that results in the “condensation of an epoch”, concepts that the poet followed.
Prints that amalgamate thousands of Federicos: from the surreal and experimental Federico to the Moorish Federico, black, Jewish, gypsy and Christian. Two sides of the same coin that has the artistic collaboration with Juan Kruz Díaz de Garaio Esnaola.
We will travel to the flamenco itself, dancing cantes por seguiriyas, granaínas, fandangos, peasant cantes, bulerías, tangos, romances alegrías and soleares, among other ‘palos’, which will be sung with texts by Federico.
