When AWOL was originally set up, there were various itineraries with set dates throughout the year. Now we have realised however that this can be limiting. We have therefore listed some tried and tested itineraries that have proved popular to give you an idea of what kind of things you can do in Granada. If you don’t want to think too much, you can therefore just pick one and then contact us and let me know on what date you would like to book. These itineraries are just to give you an idea; they can be varied and changed as much as you like to suit your personal preferences.

The itineraries are based on groups of a minimum of 6 people. The reason for this is that the transport costs increase significantly for smaller groups. For smaller parties, the same itineraries can still be followed, with the exception of the transport. Instead car hire, taxis or public transport can be arranged for airport transfers and excursions out of Granada.

On occasion some changes may need to be made to the itineraries due to certain circumstances such as weather conditions, or to include any local fiestas that may be happening. Minimum numbers may also be necessary for some of the activities.

A 2 night stay in Granada with emphasis on history and culture. The weekend includes a guided city tour, entrance to the Alhambra, a Tapas bar tour, and a choice of Arabic baths or a flamenco show.

Available in winter only, this package combines a city break with a days skiing. We will spend 1 day in the Sierra Nevada and 2 days exploring the city of Granada.

Available in summer only, this package combines a city break with a day on the beach. We will spend 1 day on the tropical coast and 2 days in the city of Granada.

Available in winter only, we take advantage of the unique contrasting climate in Granada to mix a city break with a days skiing and a trip to the coast! We will spend 1 day in the Sierra Nevada, 1 day on the coast and 2 days in the city of Granada.

This package combines a city break with a day on the coast and a trip to the mountains. We will spend 1 day on the coast, 1 day in the Alpujarras and 2 days in the city of Granada.

This is a 7 night package that includes everything; the city, the coast, the Alpujarras and the Sierra Nevada with 5 nights in Granada, 1 overnight stay on the coast and 1 overnight stay in the Alpujarras.

In order to suit all tastes and budgets, you can choose to stay in apartments, villas, rural houses or hotels, from 1 -5 star. Being an independent operator, I am not tied to any particular hotel, so can advise on accommodation according to what you are looking for and how much you want to spend.

I generally recommend accommodation that is typical to the region with particular attention paid to their décor and character, as opposed to faceless international hotels. Granada has a wide range of accommodation, some of which is really quite stunning, for example there are a number of hotels and apartments which are renovated 16th century palaces, located in the Albayzin – the historical quarter of Granada. These are mainly 3 star hotels with prices ranging from 100 – 180 euros per room per night. As a rough guide to prices; 4-5 star hotels cost from 120 – 250 euros per room per night, and at the lower end of the scale 2 star hotels and apartments cost between 60 – 85 euros per night. There is also cheaper accommodation in hostels, but the quality is reflected in that price. Rural accommodation in the mountains tends to be more economical and the coast tends to be slightly more expensive.
