Hilary Downes Norfolk |

Day 1
You will be collected from the airport and taken to Granada. On arrival
you will be given time to settle in to your hotel and then taken on a
tour of a selection of "Tapas" bars in Granada.
Day 2
You will be collected from your hotel or apartments, and taken to the
Alhambra where you can choose to join a guided tour (for a supplement
of £17.50) or visit this splendid monument on your own at your own
leisure. After the Alhambra we will drive to Guejar Sierra for lunch in
a typical restaurant serving traditional mountain dishes, followed by
a gentle stroll around the picturesque village of Guejar Sierra. During
the summer months when it is warmer and the evenings are longer we will
also visit the lake there, where you can go swimming, canoeing and mountain
biking. In the evening we will go to the Arabic tea houses, where you
can sample a huge range of teas and soak up the Arabic atmosphere with
typical décor consisting of low tables surrounded by oriental carpets
and piles of cushions.
Day 3
Today a guided tour of Granada will be organized, starting with the typical
breakfast of "churros con chocolate". The tour will begin in
the modern commercial parts of the city where the best shopping areas
can be seen. It will then wind through the narrow street of the historical
quarter during which the history of the city will explained and places
of interest will be pointed out. The tour will end with an optional meal
in a restaurant overlooking the Alhambra. You can choose to have the afternoon
free for shopping, or to visit any of the monuments you have seen during
the tour, or alternatively join a guided walk that takes you into the
hills of Sacromonte that surround Granada and are famous for their gypsy
caves. In the evening you will have the option to go to a flamenco show
in one of the Gypsy caves of Sacromonte.
Day 4
This is your day free, although of course we will be happy to give you
any suggestions or make any arrangements if you want to do anything special.
In the evening you will have the option of going to the Arabic baths,
which includes a 15 minute aromatherapy massage.
Day 5
Day Trip to Sierra Nevada. In the winter we will
organise winter sports such as skiing or a day in a health spa. In the
summer activities include walking, climbing, canoeing, horse-riding, quad-biking
etc. The evening is free.
Day 6
You will be taken to the Alpujarras, a stunning mountain range interspersed
with picturesque white washed villages, on the south side of the Sierra
Nevada. During the morning you can choose between a guided walk, horse-riding
or mountain biking. In the afternoon you will be taken around some of
the villages where you can sample the local wines, cheeses and the Serrano
ham that this area is most famous for. There will also be time for some
shopping in the many local craft shops and in the evening you can go to
a restaurant or if available a live music concert. Overnight stay in the
Alpujarras.
Day 7
We will set off in the morning to the Tropical
Coast where you can indulge in some water sports, go walking, or go on
a 4x4 excursion through the National Park. Overnight stay on the coast.
