I first came to Granada to study Spanish for 2 months, knowing little other than that it was located in Andalucia in the South of Spain, was famous for the Alhambra and its picturesque Arabic quarter, and to be honest I initially was mainly attracted to its proximity to the beach and the Sierra Nevada ski resort. Little did I know what affect this amazing city would have on me. After those 2 months I couldn’t leave,
I had fallen in love with this city.

While living in Granada, I saw too many tourists come into Granada on a tour bus, visit the Alhambra, and then leave again. They just didn’t know what they were missing. So the idea of AWOL was born – A Weekend Or Longer in Granada, organising tailor made holidays. Of course a trip to Granada should involve a visit to the Alhambra, it is incredible, but the city and province has so much more.

AWOL started as a small company organising tailor made holidays to Granada. We were then contacted by a number of couples that wanted to get married in Granada so we started organising weddings too, adding new meaning to AWOL - A Wedding Of A Lifetime! Offering full planning and co-ordination for catholic church weddings, blessings and same sex weddings followed by a reception in one of the stunning venues that Granada has to offer.

The AWOL portfolio has now grown to include much more such as organising events, hen & stag weekends, honeymoons, corporate & incentive weekends, birthday celebrations and also provided the odd service such as finding photo shoot locations for a fashion magazine, second hand furniture shops for a British television programme, nannies for holiday makers and masseurs for a company organising health retreats.

What I’m trying to say, is that whatever you are looking for in Granada, AWOL can help.

Due to the high demand for AWOL’s services, Sonia joined the company at the beginning of 2005. Sonia is Spanish and speaks both English and French fluently. She has proved to be a real asset to AWOL, fully undertaking the whole philosophy of taking care of all our guests in Granada. Her local knowledge, tourism studies and work experience will add a new flavour to your experience here, and her wicked sense of humour will have you laughing all the way home.
