Air has
just started offering direct flights to Granada from Liverpool and London
Stansted, and Monarch
airlines have
just started flights from London Gatwick to Granada. It is also rumoured
that they plan to offer direct flights from Dublin to Granada in the
future. Many people however fly to Malaga which is
about an hour and a half away from Granada. There are plenty of flights
into Malaga with various different companies. For further information
on flights please see below.
From Granada Airport
Granada airport is 12km from Granada so to get
into the city centre you will need to get either a bus or a taxi which
costs about 20 euros. N.B. The bus timetable below is for current flights
but will change to ensure that any new flights have a bus transfer service..

If you are booking for a group, transfers can
be arranged for you in a private minibus. A minibus for up to 8 passengers
costs approximately 220 euros and a minibus for up to 20 passengers costs
approximately 250 euros. Please contact Theresa or Sonia on (0034) 958521875
or info@awolgranada.com to
book a minibus. If you are booking individually, you have the following
options:
Car Hire
If you are hiring cars please be aware that many hotels do not have parking, and driving around Granada is not easy due to the one way system and most of the city centre has restricted access to traffic. If you do decide to hire a car the following company has some very good deals www.carjet.com
Public Transport
From Malaga airport you can either get a taxi
to the bus station or there is an airport bus which leaves every 30 minutes.
You catch it just outside the exit of the airport, it is well signposted
and costs about 1 euro per person. At Malaga bus station you need to
go to the ticket office “Alsina Graells”. Here you can buy a ticket
to Granada. Buses go every hour from 7am until 9pm and they cost about
8 euros per person. When you arrive in Granada you can take a taxi to
your hotel for about 5 euros or the number 3 bus will take you to the
city centre. For bus timetables and prices please see the following website http://www.continental-auto.es/continental/index.php.
You can also take a train from Malaga to Granada
but the service is irregular and tends to be very slow. For train timetables
and prices please see
the following website - http://www.renfe.es/ingles/index.html Taxi
A taxi from the airport costs 110 euros if you order it through Theresa or Sonia. If you take a taxi at the airport they will charge 120 euros or more and probably won’t know where they are going once they get to Granada. In order for to arrange for a taxi to meet you at the airport, Theresa or Sonia will need your flight number, time of arrival and departure airport.
