Despite being in the South of Spain, Granada can be very cold during the
winter months due to its proximity to the mountains. In the summer temperatures
range from 30-35°C and in the winter from 5 - 15°C. Spring and
autumn have a pleasant temperature of 20-25°C. The weather is generally
warm and dry in Granada, although of course on occasion we do have some
rain, and in winter it snows in the Sierra Nevada.

It will depend on the time of year that you book your holiday, as to what
you will need to bring with regards to clothes due to the variation in
temperature. However, as a general guide you will need to bring flat shoes
or trainers for walking around Granada, sun hat and cream, swimming costume,
a daypack, a waterproof jacket, walking boots if you are indulging in
mountain activities, a small beach towel if beach activities are included
in your itinerary and a warm jumper or fleece in the winter. For skiing
you can hire boots and skis and although we would recommend that you bring
your own ski clothing you can also hire ski clothes here if you need to.

Our holidays are for adults and we get a mix of singles, couples, friends
and a fairly even split of men and women. Our holidays attract an assortment
of people of varying ages from mid-twenties to mid-sixties. Most importantly
our guests are the type of people who want to have fun on their holiday
and have an interest in learning about the `real´ Spain.

Other than flights, meals and drinks, AWOL in Granada holidays have an
all inclusive price which includes:
Accommodation in 3 star hotels or luxury apartments
Transfers to and from the airport
Transport in private vehicles to the mountains and coast
Entry tickets to monuments and attractions
Sports activities
Specialized equipment (depending on activities)
All specialized instruction for sports (except skiing)
Guide services
Evening entertainment
Service of a dedicated AWOL in Granada host.

Wherever possible we try to use hotels and apartments typical to the region
with particular attention paid to their décor and character, as
opposed to faceless international hotels. We will send you full details
of your accommodation at the time of booking.

Meals & drinks are not included. The amount spent on food and drink
varies from person to person, but an average would be 25-35€ (£17-
£25) per day. You may also need a little extra money for buying
souvenirs etc.

If you have a group of 6 or more people we can tailor make a holiday to
exactly meet your requirements. You can choose the dates, the length of
stay, the activities and excursions you want to do, and the type of accommodation
you wish to stay in. Our itineraries have been designed as a guide to
what we can offer but it is certainly not the limit.

All guests on an AWOL in Granada trip must have there own travel insurance.
This should include health and medical cover, emergency expatriation and
mountain and skiing activities where applicable. It is a good idea to
bring an E111 form with you which can be obtained from the post office,
and we also recommend insurance for baggage and cancellation when travelling
abroad.

We believe that an important part of your holiday is soaking up the atmosphere.
On all our holidays you will therefore have free time on your own and
we always have time in our itineraries for long lunches, café breaks
and where possible that great Spanish tradition - a siesta !

Flights are not included in any of our itineraries but our how to get
here page gives a list of a number of airlines that fly to Malaga from
all over the world. We have transfers to Granada from Malaga which collect
you from the airport at 16.30 and return at 18.00 for your departure at
19.00 or later. For this reason you need to make sure your flights coincide
with this time. We will help you find flights if you have any problems
and if you cannot coincide with the transfer times we will do out best
to find an alternative means of transport for you. When booking your flights
we recommend you do so through official ATOL agents.
